Ice, Ice, Baby

Do you remember when you were a kid and the mere site of needles made you cry? Most people didn’t like needles as a child and we still hate them as adults. That sharp metal object stings when it pierces your skin. OUCH! If you are going to consider fertility preservation, or an Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) treatment, you have to get over the fear of needles. Sorry girlfriend, but the majority of ART treatments involve taking injectable mediations. One tip often used used by kids with juvenile diabetes for their subcutaneous injections is to slightly ice the spot before injection to help numb the skin. And don’t forget to sterilize the area with an alcohol swab after your take the ice off.
