OMG! Just like texting, the fertility word is full of abbreviations. During your journey of understanding fertility, you may come across a few abbreviations and acronyms that seem overwhelming at times. But relax! Your BFF’s have gathered a list of commonly used abbreviations you may come across.

AMH: Anti-mullerian hormone fertility testing that gives an estimate of the remaining egg supply

2WW: Two week wait before taking a pregnancy test

BD: Baby Dance (having intercourse/sex)

BFN: Big Fat Negative on a pregnancy test

BFP: Big Fat Positive on a pregnancy test

CD: Cycle Day

CM: Cervical mucous

CP: Cervical Position

DPO: Days Past Ovulation

EWCM: Eggwhite cervical mucous

FSH: Follicle Stimulating Hormone

GnRH: Gonadotropin-releasing hormone

HPT: Home pregnancy test

HcG: Human Chorionic Gonadotropin is a hormone detected by pregnancy

IUI: Intra-uterine insemination

IVF: In-vitro fertilization

LH: Luteinizing Hormone

LMP: Last menstrual period.

LP: Luteal Phase

LPD: Luteal Phase Defect

M/C: Miscarriage

O: Ovulation

OPK: Ovulation Prediction Kit. OPKs measure luteinizing hormone, the last hormone to peak before ovulation.

PCOS (POS): Polycystic ovarian syndrome
